Just up the road from the beach at Ngunguru, this brick and tile home is bold and unusual on the outside with a stylish and practical interior.

Designed and built by The House Company, the home is split into two separate areas to incorporate bed and breakfast accommodation. Owners Janis and Dennis Langman live upstairs, and downstairs is a self contained three bedroom apartment. “We didn’t really have a clear idea of the design that we wanted but we’ve painted enough houses to know that we didn’t want to have to paint this one,” says Janis. The result is the striking exterior brickwork which, combined with the square shape, symmetrical lines and cedar shutters, fit the French provincial style chosen for the home.
