Verse of The Day
“A ka mea a Meri, Ka whakanui toku wairua i te Ariki, E hari ana toku wairua ki te Atua, ki toku Kaiwhakaora; He nui hoki nga mahi a te Mea Kaha ki ahau; he tapu hoki tona ingoa.” (Luke 1:46-47, 49)

A Place to Stand : The protection of New Zealand's natural and cultural landscapes, Raewyn Peart, Environmental Defence Society, 2004.

"This report examines how well we are managing New Zealand's important landscapes. It explores what are New Zealand's important landscapes, how they are assessed, what are the threats to them, how well we are managing these threats and how we could strengthen the landscape management system. It reviews case law relevant to landscape protection and contains five case studies of landscape management in the Waitakere Ranges, Coromandel Peninsula, Wakatipu Basin, Banks Peninsula and Whangarei District. The report provides a useful overview of planning strategies for landscape protection and their strengths and weaknesses." (PDF, 147KB)
