A developer plans to fight the Far North District Council’s refusal to rezone land in Kerikeri for a 273-unit retirement village.

The council last month rejected Kerikeri Falls Investments application to create a special Quail Ridge Country Club zone on 17 hectares of rural living-zoned land at Rainbow Falls Rd.

General manager – district plan and Maori development – Phillip Grimshaw told councillors last week that Kerikeri Falls planned to appeal the council’s decision in the Environment Court.

The firm wants the court to overturn the council’s decision and compensate it for its costs, he says.
