"Judge Harvey said [Darin Wayne Shelford, 43, solo father] and a friend were scuba diving at Tutukaka in December. Shelford was seen coming out of the water carrying a bag of shellfish and was approached by a voluntary fisheries officer. He was found to have 181 mussels, over three times the daily limit of 50."

"Adrian Leon Walters, 30, unemployed, of Raumanga, appeared in the Whangarei District Court this week for sentencing after pleading guilty to obstructing a fishery officer and taking excess kina. Walters went to Woolleys Bay, on the Tutukaka Coast, with a friend on February 24, to snorkel for kina."
