12 March 2009 - Whangarei MP Phil Heatley has today welcomed news that three local schools will receive significant upgrades thanks to the Government's infrastructure package.

"It's great news that these schools can begin addressing the quality of their infrastructure and their lack of space," Mr Heatley said.

The three schools - Kaurihohore School, Ruakaka School and Ngunguru School - are among 81 schools that will get new or expanded buildings through the first allocation of property funding to schools under the Government's recently announced infrastructure package.

The new projects were announced by Education Minister Anne Tolley today.
