The old-fashioned summer camping holiday could be making a comeback as the economic downturn forces more Kiwis to forgo overseas holidays.

Seven Far North holiday parks and motor camps Northern News spoke to last week are looking forward to busy summers.

Parks and camps at Pukenui, Ahipara, Whatuwhiwhi, Hihi, Tauranga Bay, Kerikeri and Russell reported normal or increased bookings for the holiday season.
