Verse of The Day
(Luke 1:26-28)

Doves Bay Residents Association spokesman Alan Warwick says it’s the second time in 20 years the council has moved to sell the land known locally as The Reserve.

It is well used by children, fishers accessing the coastline, the community, and for parking.

"Lot 12 is a perfect example of the council’s open space and coastal access strategy," Mr Warwick says.

Public pressure stopped the sale of the 1520 square metre lot in 1989 when residents asked the Bay of Islands County Council to retain it as a public reserve.

But the council failed to give it reserve status.
