National has won a decisive victory and will lead the next government. Its environment and conservation policies have been well traversed and EDS looks forward to a collaborative and constructive relationship with Ministers. EDS is especially keen to engage on the proposed changes to the Emissions Trading Scheme and to the Resource Management Act. We are also interested to see the detail of its proposed institutional reform and to engage on rural land and water use issues. It will be important for the National-led government to deliver moderate and effective outcomes that are good for the environment and for New Zealand and avoid ideologically driven extremes.
