Conservation Minister Chris Carter said he was worried about the loss of family-friendly camping areas because of rapid development.

Northland has been particularly hard hit, with a privately owned camp ground at Whananaki North, recently listed on the market, looking set to become the latest family holiday park due to fall to the auctioneer's hammer.
