First is the Matapouri Gala Day at the Matapouri Hall and Domain--that happens on 2 January and begins at 9:30. NSaPS will have a stall at the gala day, selling tee shirts and Steve Moase prints, tickets to the 12 Jan concert (see below), chatting-up and signing up new members.

Next, on 4 Jan is the TCR&R summer meeting. Plan to be there because you are a resident and a ratepayer. But in addition to that excellent reason, NSaPS will have a presence which will include selling tee shirts, Steve Moase prints and concert tickets.)

6:00PM, 5 January is the opening of Steve Moase exhibition, A Line in the Sand, images of the Ngunguru Sandspit. The exhibition represents a full year's work and will run until 27 January. The venue is Oceans, Shop 6 (Tukaha Gallery Space). Steve will be delighted to see you there among the supporters.

7:30 PM on 12 January will be the first concert in Sophie's garden. The artist is Paul McLaney, taking time out from a New Zealand tour to play his acoustic guitar for the benefit of our sandspit campaign. Tickets will be $25.00 and limited (purchase details to come. Seating will provide views of the Sandspit, and the Sandspit will receive all proceeds from the concert. It's the only place to be on the 12th for those who love acoustic guitar.

Although one half of Auckland rock group Gramsci, McLaney’s always dug the solo acoustic approach, or as he calls it "finger style guitar playing”. He recorded his seventh album, Edin, in Dunedin with engineer Dale Cotton, drummer Nick Gaffaney, double bass player Richie Pickard and a string section led and arranged by Dr Graeme Downes (Verlaines, Otago's Dr. of Rock).
