Coastal residents concerned about the time it takes for police to attend 111 calls have been told to form a community watch group.

The Tutukaka Coast community was concerned about the Police's response to a break-in at Matapouri store in December, where a woman, who was home with her three children, dialled 111 and was told there were no police cars available. The offenders ran off and the woman called a neighbour to check the site. The police did not arrive until two days later.
