The Ngunguru Sandspit Protection Society recently had a name-change and became incorporated. Prior to that, it signed up a lot of people as Friends and Guardians. With the change of status of the organisation, those people became associate members, or "Friends of the Society". Maybe you're one of them.

There are probably also a lot of people who are "registered on the website" members, "bumper sticker" members or "day of action" members and that's wonderful -- we really appreciate your support. We're just letting you know that if you're not signed up as an associate member / friend of the society as well then you're not officially a member of the society.

Does it matter? Well, no. You don't need to be a member to be a supporter. Membership only really matters when we're asked how many people we represent, or when we need to contact our supporters quickly. We want as many people as possible on the books, and we don't want anyone to feel left out of the loop because they weren't signed up.

So, If you're not already an associate (Friends of the Society) member you're welcome to join up. You'll get a regular newsletter and invitations to the various educational events the society puts on. What's more you'll be (officially) standing in support of the sociey's aims.

Before you sign up, you'll probably want to check out the society's rules.
