People looking for Northland coastal property aren't too concerned about the possibility of their homes going underwater as a result of climate change, a coastal real estate agent reckons.

Chris Windust, branch manager for Allens Tutukaka Coast, said the prospect of rising tides and more flooding generally wasn't an issue for coastal property buyers, but it was certainly talked about.

"A few mention the tsunami in Bali a while ago, but no-one's freaked out about buying (on the coast)," he said.

Mr Windust said a lot of properties on the Tutukaka coast were low-lying, and were tagged as a flood risk on the Whangarei District Council's district plan.
