Robyn Gibson

Gibson has also been left homeless by the floodwaters that hit her house in Ngunguru, on the Tutukaka coast, north-east of Whangarei. Winner of the Pumphouse art award, Gibson, 46, has lost personal favourites from her lifetime's work.

"It's been pretty traumatic," she said as she left her ruined home to travel to Auckland on Thursday in search of rental accommodation.

Just before the rain, Gibson moved her most precious pieces into the garage for storage while she and her partner, Brendan Healey, prepared their home for sale.
