NCAG held a “Land and Sea Celebration” at the Ngunguru Memorial Hall today, Wed 3 Jan 07. This event was well attended by locals, holiday makers and visiting batch owners from along the coast. Large numbers of people signed up as “Friends & Guardians of the Ngunguru Sandspit”.

Material related to the history of the Ngunguru Sandspit over the last 40 years along with Landco Ltd's development plan was displayed. A slide show of 280 local images ran continuously on a computer, local artists displayed pictures, two jugglers performed, music was provided, children enjoyed games and face painting, a sausage sizzle ran continously. Tea, coffee & juice was served along with homemade cakes and biscuits. The public contribution was in the form of koha and NCAG wish to thank all who attended for their support and generosity.

A raffle was drawn for the following prizes:

  • First Prize: two free tickets to the Poor Knights - donated by Dive Tutukaka / Perfect Day Ocean Cruise - won by Marie Amos
  • Second Prize: free surfing lesson for two people - donated by Tutukaka Surf Company Ltd - won by Bryan Divers.
  • Third Prize: free one hour scenic flight - donated by Adrian Gilbert - won by Lynne Steegstra
  • Fourth Prize: free thirty minute scenic flight - donated by Adrian Gilbert - won by Nick Alison

NCAG wishes to thank those who donated the prizes.
