A multi-million resort hotel proposed for Kerikeri will not go ahead because of the high cost of development levies and developer frustration with Far North District Council processes.

Bridgewater Developments Ltd applied for Resource Consent in August last year for the three level Kerikeri Resort Hotel, to be built on the corner of Cobham Road and Inlet Road.

It was designed to include about 100 rooms plus banquet and meeting facilities - a $10million to $15million project.

"We surrender", was the comment this week from Bridgewater Developments Ltd representative in the Bay of Islands, Keith Day.
