NGUNGURU: footbridge across Mill Creek Reserve: a mangrove glade where herons stalk. Across road from Ngunguru Hall, Snells Point Reserve provides a wilderness experience right on the doorstep. By the library easily overlooked Ngunguru Estuary Walkway skirts mangroves, raupo swamp and a cavalcade of mighty pohutukawas. Dusk, low tide, Papaka Rd: wading birds are easily approached as they probe & spear: oystercatchers, stilts and herons.
