Friends of Rarawa Beach, locals, DoC and regional council staff brave stormy conditions at Rarawa Beach.

More than 130 volunteers have joined community groups and Department of Conservation staff at two Arbor Day events in the Far North.

Rarawa Beach, on the east coast between Kaitaia and Cape Reinga, saw a few hardy locals take on stormy conditions to continue with a dune restoration project run by community group Friends of Rarawa. They were joined by DoC and Northland Regional Council staff as more than 300 pingao and 300 spinifex were planted to help stabilise the dunes.
