The Ngunguru launch service was instituted by Mr G. Shoebridge about three, years ago. So well was he patronised that he soon found a 2Oft launch too small to meet the requirements of the run and was compelled to go in for a bigger craft. He therefore placed an order with Mr P. G. Macintosh, of Whangarei. for "Spray." which is a roomy boat 26ft x 7ft. The launch leaves Ngunguru P.O. every Tuesday. Thursday and Saturday at 9.3O a.m. for Kiripaka, leaving on the return journey on arrival of the mail, which generally comes to hand about 11.30 or noon. The moderate fare of 1s 6d is charged each way. Apart from general business traffic Ngunguru offers attractions for pleasure parties and tourists. There is a capital beach for bathing and fine fishing grounds. In fact Ngunguru is an ideal spot for a summer holiday, and Mr Shoebridge's launches are always available for special trips to all the beauty spots of the coast.
