Articles - Public Ownership
Written by Darlene Buckley

New signs along the Ngunguru water-front highlight the new status of the sandspit as crown-owned land, under the careful ownership of all New Zealanders. An airphoto-map shows the boundary between the publicly-owned sandspit and privately-owned land. DOC, in cooperation with iwi, hapu and wider-community will be working together over the next year to decide how to manage the natural, historic and recreation values of the site. Please treat this culturally sensitive site with respect.
