Just when it looked as though the Rugby World Cup gravy train had passed Northland by, tales of some businesses thriving have emerged.

Nestled among the bleak stories of empty restaurants, vacant motel rooms and quiet video stores were found encouraging accounts of a busy barista, a happy camper and a grinning gift store owner.

Lesley Armstrong-Jennings runs an online gift store specialising in all things Kiwi from her home in Ngunguru.

With sales of flags and All Blacks paraphernalia going through the roof, Ms Armstrong-Jennings has seen her September sales increase 100 per cent on 2010.
