The lush green hills behind Ngunguru School are a little bit greener today thanks to the efforts of the school's recycling group.

Over the past year, the group has been collecting the school's recyclable paper as part of the Paper4Trees programme.

The programme, run by the Environmental Education for Resource Sustainability Trust (EERST), rewards schools with a native plant for every 2000 litres of paper they recycle.

Yesterday the Ngunguru pupils headed into the hills to plant the seven native saplings they had been given.
