Saturday, 11 September 2010 is clear that there are a number of ways in which the NRC could support the restoration of the landscape and support the sorts of outcomes which could see the Ngunguru sandspit contributing to economic, social and cultural benefits for the region.

We are working as a team (“Go Northland”) as we believe that effective governance for the region will be delivered by groups of effective people who know how to work together with integrity for Northland’s best interests. Our team includes men and women, Maori and Pakeha and representatives both from the Whangarei District and from the Far North.

The Ngunguru Sandspit is widely regarded as a special and iconic piece of land which many parties believe should be in “safe hands”. We understand that the government is presently seeking to negotiate with the present landowners (Todd Property) to secure the Ngunguru Sandspit for the people of New Zealand.
